Fly control for homes, food businesses and dairies

Flies breed in waste, manure and drains. Spraying adults without removing breeding sites gives only short-term relief, so we start with the sources.

Is this your problem?

  • Swarms of flies around kitchens, bins or animal sheds
  • Maggots in waste or manure
  • Flies on food in a restaurant or dairy

What we do

  1. Find the source

Waste, manure and drains where flies breed.

  2. Remove and treat

Source clean-up plan, baits and targeted treatment.

  3. Keep them out

Screens and traps for food areas.

Frequently asked questions

Do you treat dairy farms and animal sheds?

Yes. We combine manure management advice with treatments suitable for livestock areas, and can include tick management. See tick management.

Is fogging a good way to control flies?

Fogging kills flies present at that moment but does not affect breeding sites. We use it only as part of a wider plan.

For those who want the detailsBiology, risks, causes, inspection, treatment methods, prevention and safety

Which flies are we dealing with?

  • House fly: grey with four dark stripes on the thorax; breeds in garbage, food waste and manure.
  • Blow flies: metallic green or blue; breed in meat waste and dead animals.
  • Drain and fruit flies: small flies breeding in drains, sinks and fermenting food.

Signs and causes

  • Large numbers around waste, kitchens and animal sheds.
  • Maggots in waste bins, manure or drains.
  • Uncovered waste, irregular collection and wet organic debris.
  • Animal sheds with accumulated manure.

Health risks

House flies carry germs on their bodies and legs from waste to food. They are associated with the spread of diarrhoeal disease, typhoid and eye infections, which is a particular concern in kitchens, hospitals and schools.

Our survey

We walk the property and its surroundings to find breeding sites, measure fly activity, and agree a source-reduction plan with you.

Treatment methods

  • Source reduction: waste storage, collection frequency, drain cleaning and manure management.
  • Fly baits placed where flies feed and rest, away from food.
  • Targeted residual treatment of resting surfaces outside food areas.
  • Traps and exclusion: screens and traps for kitchens, dairies and restaurants.

Fly numbers can be reduced substantially, but flies from neighbouring properties and waste sites will keep arriving if the surrounding area is not managed. Regular service is often needed for food businesses and dairies.

Prevention

  • Keep bins closed and collected regularly.
  • Clean drains and remove wet organic waste.
  • Remove manure from sheds frequently and store it covered.
  • Use screens on kitchen windows and doors.

Safety precautions

  • No insecticide is applied to food contact surfaces, animal feed or water troughs.
  • Products are chosen for the target pest and the place being treated, and must be registered or otherwise legally authorised in Pakistan for that use.
  • Every application follows the manufacturer's label: dose, method, site and precautions.
  • Our team wears protective equipment suited to the product and the task.
  • Food, drinking water, utensils, toys, animal feed and aquariums are removed or covered before treatment.
  • Children, pets and other occupants follow the precautions we give for that specific treatment.
  • Re-entry time depends on the product, formulation, ventilation and surface. We tell you on the day, rather than using one fixed time for every job.
  • You receive written post-treatment instructions.

Standards we work to: the WHO guidance on pesticide use for vector and public health pest control, the FAO/WHO International Code of Conduct on Pesticide Management, the WHO hazard classification of pesticides, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles, together with Pakistan’s pesticide law.
