Mosquito and dengue vector control

Dengue is spread by Aedes mosquitoes that breed in clean water in and around homes. Finding and removing breeding sites is the most important part of control; fogging alone is not enough.

Is this your problem?

  • Mosquitoes biting in the daytime
  • Larvae (wrigglers) in coolers, tanks or pots
  • Dengue cases in your street or society

What we do

  1. Larval survey

We check every container, tank, roof and drain.

  2. Remove and treat

Breeding sites emptied or covered; larvicide where water must stay.

  3. Adult control

Targeted treatment of resting places; fogging only in outbreaks.

Why customers choose Frontier

  • Planned by an MSc entomologist with 17+ years in vector control and public health
  • We identify the pest before we treat, so you pay for what works
  • Written quotation before work, and a written treatment record after
  • Trained team in protective equipment; products used according to the label
  • WhatsApp reply within 30 minutes, 8 AM – 8 PM, every day

Your safety

Food, water and utensils are protected, and you receive written instructions on when rooms can be used again and what precautions to take. Our procedures follow WHO and FAO guidance on public health pesticides. Standards we follow →

Frequently asked questions

Is fogging enough to stop dengue?

No. Fogging only affects mosquitoes flying at that moment and does not reach larvae. Removing breeding sites is the most important step; fogging is reserved for outbreaks as part of a wider plan.

Do you serve housing societies and schools?

Yes. We plan seasonal programmes with larval surveys, treatment and written reports. See institutional pest management.

When should we start?

Before and during the monsoon and post-monsoon season, when dengue risk is highest in KP.

For those who want the detailsBiology, risks, causes, inspection, treatment methods, prevention and safety

Know the mosquito

  • Aedes (dengue): black with white stripes on body and legs; bites mainly during the day, especially early morning and late afternoon; breeds in clean stored water.
  • Culex (nuisance, and some other diseases): brown; bites at night; breeds in dirty water and drains.
  • Anopheles (malaria): rests at an angle; bites at night. See malaria vector control.

Where Aedes breeds

  • Water coolers and cooler trays.
  • Overhead and underground tanks without tight covers.
  • Flower pots and their trays, vases, buckets and drums.
  • Old tyres, roof gutters and construction sites.
  • Fridge drip trays and blocked AC drains.

Life cycle

Life cycle of the dengue mosquito (Aedes)
  1. EggLaid just above the water line on the inside of containers. Eggs can survive dry for months and hatch when water returns.
  2. LarvaWriggles in the water and breathes through a tube at the surface. About 4–6 days in warm weather.
  3. PupaComma-shaped, does not feed, rests at the surface. About 1–2 days.
  4. AdultBlack and white striped. Females bite in the daytime and lay eggs in clean, stored water.

From egg to biting adult in about 7–10 days in summer. Empty and scrub containers weekly to break the cycle at the egg and larva stages; space spraying only reaches adults.

Why it matters

Dengue outbreaks have affected Peshawar and other districts of KP in recent years. Severe dengue can be life-threatening. Because Aedes lives close to people, household and community action has a large effect on risk.

Our survey

  1. Larval survey

We check every container, tank, roof and drain on the premises for larvae and pupae.

  2. Map breeding sites

Positive sites are recorded and shown to you.

  3. Agree actions

What to empty and scrub, cover, remove or treat.

  4. Written report

Especially for housing societies, schools and hospitals.

Control methods

  • Source reduction: emptying, scrubbing, covering or removing containers, done together with you.
  • Larviciding: treatment of water that cannot be emptied, with a product approved for that use.
  • Targeted adult control: residual treatment of resting places and, during outbreaks, space spraying (fogging) as part of a wider plan.
  • Personal protection advice: repellents, screens and covering clothing.

Mosquito control reduces numbers and risk; it cannot guarantee that no mosquitoes or dengue cases will occur, especially when breeding continues on neighbouring properties. Community-wide action works best.

Prevention: the 7-day rule

Aedes eggs develop into adults in about a week in warm weather. During the season, empty and scrub coolers, pot trays, buckets and drums at least once a week, and keep tanks tightly covered.

Safety precautions

  • Larvicides used in water are selected for that specific use and dose, and drinking-water containers are only treated with products approved for that purpose.
  • Products are chosen for the target pest and the place being treated, and must be registered or otherwise legally authorised in Pakistan for that use.
  • Every application follows the manufacturer's label: dose, method, site and precautions.
  • Our team wears protective equipment suited to the product and the task.
  • Food, drinking water, utensils, toys, animal feed and aquariums are removed or covered before treatment.
  • Children, pets and other occupants follow the precautions we give for that specific treatment.
  • Re-entry time depends on the product, formulation, ventilation and surface. We tell you on the day, rather than using one fixed time for every job.
  • You receive written post-treatment instructions.

Standards we work to: the WHO guidance on pesticide use for vector and public health pest control, the FAO/WHO International Code of Conduct on Pesticide Management, the WHO hazard classification of pesticides, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles, together with Pakistan’s pesticide law. See the standards we follow →
